My Experience

Studied Writing1

I am Putri Melco, a student of English Department of UNP.  Now, I am in the third semester. In this semester, I am going to study some English skills subjects, one of them is writing2. I can study writing2 in this semester because I passed writing1 last semester. For a semester, writing 1 made me had some experiences in studying it. That is why this text is coming, to tell my experience when I studied writing1.

I studied writing1 with Mr. Saunir and Mrs. Witri, but Mrs. Witri just taught my class for several times and she was replaced by Mr. Hafidz because she prepared to her baby born. At the first time I studied writing1, I learned how to make a paragraph. However, it was hard for me to make a good paragraph. I learned to make it step by step from my lecturers. Even though I studied in my classroom with my lecturers, it was not enough for me. I needed to know and study more. So, I reviewed my lessons in my boarding house. There are three English Department students that are older than I. I asked them about everything, in writing, that made me worried. One thing that made me really worried was when I should make an essay. It was really hard for me to make it. I had to make more than one paragraph. Yeah, it was hard, but I had to make it. I learned from what I did before.

Actually, writing is one of my hobbies. However, writing in English is not as easy as writing in Bahasa. I used to make such kind of short story in Bahasa, but I think it is hard for me to make it in English. It is important for us to know the way how to make a good text in English, especially in academic writing. Writing1 with my lecturers taught me about it. I got new and more knowledge in writing1.

In writing, we have to know what kind of text that we want to make. My lecturers in writing1 have already taught me some kind of texts, such as descriptive text, procedure text, report text, cause and effect text, and comparison and contrast text. They taught me how to make those texts, but I thought it was still hard for me to make them. It was because I could not get inspiration in a while. That is my problem. I need more time than my friend to think about what I have to write. During writing1, I always paid attention to my lecturers every time they explained the lessons in front of my class and tried hard to make a good text. As a result, I could write a text.

In short, I spent a semester in writing1 with two lecturers. By studying it, I think I got more knowledge in writing, especially kind of texts that I have already studied in writing1. It made me could pass writing1 with a good mark. Thanks God and my lecturers.
